Students on the NCTJ Fast-Track courses at Up To Speed were given an insight into the worlds of celebrity reporting and fashion journalism this week.

The Deputy Editor of The Mirror’s 3am.co.uk and the Acting Online News Editor of British Vogue came back to Bournemouth to share their experiences four years after they qualified as journalists.

Rachael(left) described how she landed a job at The Mirror after her first title The London Paper folded and how she has built up a celebrity contacts book as well as an expertise in online journalism.

Sarah has also specialised in web journalism in a career that has so far taken her from Marie Claire to Vogue via AOL’s MyDaily.

Both journalists stressed the need to make the most of work placements and internships in order to break into national titles.

You can see more pictures of their visit on our Facebook page.
