There are 18 Gold Medal events today. For Team GB Dai Greene is in action in the 400m hurdles while Beth Tweddle is taking part in the uneven bars event in gymnastics. At the velodrome Victoria Pendleton and Jason Kenny will be hoping to boost Team GB’s medal tally.

And at Wimbledon, Andy Murray is on Centre Court from 1400 to 1800, first against Roger Federer in the Men’s Singles and then with Laura Robson in the Mixed Doubles Gold final. They say that David Cameron’s presence at events may have jinxed some some Team GB competitors. If that’s the case it would be a good idea if he watched from Chequers today and avoided the temptation to wander into the Olympic Stadium between 9 and 10pm this evening. The PM might also want to give the boating lake near his old school a wide berth at lunchtime too.
There are 23 Gold Medal Events today with British hopes for Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah. It’s the last day of the swimming events.

It’s a big day for Rebecca Adlington, who is competing in her favourite event, the 800m Freestyle. It’s also the first day of the athletics meet. Jessica Ennis is starting her bid to win the heptathlon and tonight medals will be awarded in the men’s shot put and the women’s 10,000m.

Britain’s quest for Gold continues today with Fran Halsall in the Women’s 100m freestyle swimming event this evening. In cycling, Britain’s track cyclists will be hoping to emulate Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Lizzie Armitstead as the action moves to the velodrome and attention switches to Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton. There’s also women’s all-around gymnastics, rowing and canoe slalom to look forward to.
